24-Hour Giveaway: Giant Race by Refuel with Chocolate Milk!

Once upon a time I was registered to run the Giant Race Half Marathon this coming weekend. I mean, what could be better than getting a Tim Lincecum bobble head for running a race? Oh, running IN AT&T PARK did you say? Yeah, pretty amazing! Then another teeny-tiny little (okay, no, TOTALLY EPIC) race came up that took over the same weekend, and I needed to surrender my race bib. Boo. :(

Well, what do you know? I have another bib to giveaway for the Giant Race Half Marathon!
The got milk? campaign will be in San Francisco this weekend promoting their Refuel with Chocolate Milk event, where they be talking about the importance of post-exercise recovery. They were also kind enough to give me a bib into the Giants Race this Saturday, August 27th!

I personally don't drink milk, but I DO drink chocolate soymilk after long runs and races. A few of my friends, however, drink chocolate milk and they say the sugars and proteins help their muscles tremendously. The Refuel with Chocolate Milk campaign says something similar:

"Lowfat chocolate milk naturally has many of the nutrients most commercial recovery drinks have to add in the lab – including high-quality protein and key electrolytes like calcium, potassium, sodium and magnesium."

Refuel with Chocolate Milk is traveling around the country, stopping at marathons, triathlons, soccer camps, and the like, setting up "Fuel Zones" to help athletes with their recoveries. They will be at the Giants Race this weekend handing out samples, manning a photo booth, giving out free massages, and distributing materials on post-exercise recovery. You can learn more about their campaign by visiting their website, Facebook, or Twitter, or just stop by their booth from 6am to 2pm this weekend!

Because the race is just a few days away, this giveaway is only going to be a 24-hour giveaway. Let's hope you're trained & ready to go!

Here's what you have to do:

1. Leave me a comment telling me what you do to recover from hard workouts!

THAT'S IT! Feel free to spread the word via Twitter or your blogs... I may have extra entries for people who share the love. :)

I will be contacting the winner tomorrow night, so don't delay! GOOD LUCK & have a great race!

  1. You are a blogging MACHINE!!!!

To recover from a hard workout I either lay down on the floor in a prone position for as long as I can until one of my kids steps on me or kicks me OR I go to the candy store and stock up on Zots... fuel of champion racers!

I can't run that race either ;-) And I don't drink milk either, too. Can you use "either" and "too" consecutively correctly?

  2. HELLO!!!! I recover just by taking a break from hard workouts! :P HAHAHA. But seriously, I like to make a smoothie after my runs. I also just bought some epsom salt so was gonna try those baths since they're so highly recommended. (Although I'm not really a bath person, to be honest)

Are you running the Giants half? I might tag along for some of it as bandit (or maybe as a registered runner?????? heehee jk) as part of my 18 miles this weekend.

  3. *facepalm* Haha, never mind I answered my own question. (For some reason, I thought the first paragraph applied to a previous year's race, lol)

  4. Newbie runner here so I don't have a particular recovery drink or food after a workout, usually whatever available in the fridge even though I do love soy milk from Ranch 99. Not a regular milk drinker, I did try the chocolate milk at the SF Half Marathon and thought it tasted great. The Giant Race would be a perfect prep for my upcoming second marathon ever in Sept at San Jose. May be I will see you there?

  5. I love to take a really hot bath and also eat something delicious like an omelette after a long run and perhaps have a mimosa! ;) haha This race would work great for me since I am already going to the Giant's game Friday night and really need some mojo for my long run this weekend! :)

  6. I actually LOVE Chocolate Milk to recover from workouts... and just in general. Not kidding, favorite beverage. (5th grade lunch hour was obviously the peak of my existence.)

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to run the Giant race! I'm a huge Giants fan, totally missed the boat on registration and would love to use it as my long run on Saturday! (Plus I live 10 minutes from AT&T park!)

  7. I stretch and eat to good breakfast or lunch. Then I take a nap in the afternoon.

  8. Ah, I was bummed when this race sold out, but I am running the Summer Breeze on Saturday instead. I did post a link on my Facebook wall!

I usually recover from long runs and races with a Muscle Milk or Vitamin Water, and then a heavier meal within an hour. It takes a while for me to be able to eat anything substantial after a hard run.

  9. Sometimes I refuel with milk or a protein bar. other days I favor copious amounts of booze.

Slash I love chocolate milk, so bad. I think I'm buying Karin's friend's bib? If I hear otherwise I'll comment again tomorrow so you enter me :) woot!
